School Holiday Fun with West Gippsland Libraries

School Holiday Fun with West Gippsland Libraries

Hop into school holiday fun with West Gippsland Libraries

The first term of school for 2021 has flown by and it’s time to start planning your Easter holiday activities. We’ve got a great range of free events planned in our branches. Do you fancy going on a bear hunt? Maybe you’re interested in making paper planes? How about slimy slime making, salt painting, kite making or learn how to make a treat for a special cat or dog. We’ve also got a dinosaur craft extravaganza planned and a robot maze runner challenge. For more in-branch events, hop over to our Eventbrite website to book your free tickets.

If you’re heading away for the holidays, you can still join in the fun online. We’ll have a special online StoryTime with Lisa D, and our Queen of Craft Shannyn will teach you how to make flowers using recycled materials. We’ve also got a great collection of online videos for you to watch. There’s craft, STEM activities, Songs and Rhymes and lots more to keep you entertained.

Our online Lego Club is running a special Easter-themed competition. All you need to do is create something using Lego (or any other type of building block), snap a photo* and send it through to warragul@wgrlc.vic.gov.au to go into the running to win a great Lego prize. The possibilities are endless! How about an Easter bunny made from Lego? A basket to collect all of your yummy chocolate eggs in? Or even an Easter egg made from bricks. We can’t wait to see what you create. *Please note that if you include children in your photo, we will require a photo consent form to be filled out.

If you’ve got a long car trip or flight planned these holidays, we suggest downloading some e-audiobooks before you go. We’ve got a great range of titles on our BorrowBox and Libby by Overdrive platforms that the whole family will love. E-books are also the perfect alternative to packing lots of books into your suitcases. You can access hours of reading material on your phone or digital device.

We’re looking forward to seeing you in our branches during the Easter holidays! Lots of our branches will have a special Look and Find activity for you to play after you have finished browsing and borrowing. How many cheeky creatures will you be able to find hiding on our walls and bookshelves?

Our Drouin Library branch will have free take-home craft packs available from the 6th of April while stocks lasts. Pop in and pick one up for some crafty fun.

Bookings are essential for all in-branch events and tickets are required for both adults and children attending the events. Social distancing will be observed at all in-person events. Please note that if you book into one of our school holiday sessions and are unable to attend, you can cancel your ticket by contacting your local library.
