Updates to your Cardinia Library Membership

Cardinia library membership at Emerald, Pakenham and the Cardinia Mobile Library prior to Dec 1, 2022 were provided by Casey Cardinia Library (CCL) – a partnership that is currently between The City of Casey and Cardinia Shire Councils.

In October 2021, both The City of Casey and Cardinia Shire Councils jointly decided to begin a review of how best to continue delivering quality, specialist library services to the community they each serve.

Throughout 2022 both Councils spoke with other public library services providers and the community to understand how best to deliver library services that would support their communities’ needs now and in the future.

With the support of each Council and the CCL Board the following decisions have been made:

  • The City of Casey will continue to partner with Casey Cardinia Libraries as their preferred library service provider for the Casey community.
  • Cardinia Shire Council will partner with Myli – My Community Library (Myli) for the delivery of library services to the Cardinia community (This includes Emerald Library, Pakenham Library and the Cardinia Mobile Library Service).

CCL and Myli are working together with the City of Casey and Cardinia Shire Councils to ensure minimal impact to your current membership during the transition period.

This change will officially happen on 1 December 2022.

Link Media releases:

What does this mean for my library membership?

From today until 1 December
As a CCL library member from Emerald, Pakenham or the Cardinia Mobile Library, you can continue to use any library service with your current CCL membership card and barcode.

From 1 December
Current CCL members from Emerald, Pakenham and Cardinia Mobile Library will receive a new Myli – My Community library card but will keep their existing membership barcode number.

What does this mean for existing Myli – My Community Library members?

Library members from Bass Coast, Baw Baw Shire and South Gippsland Shire will not be impacted by this update. Partnering with Cardinia Shire Council will provide more shared resources to benefit all our library members.

What do I need to do?

No action is required. This change will happen automatically and we are working behind the scenes to ensure minimal impact to your current membership during the transition. If there are any changes to your membership or the way you use our service, we will be in touch.

How will this affect my library membership?

The good news is both Library Services are part of Libraries Victoria so whether you have a Casey Cardinia Library Membership or have Myli Library Membership, you will continue to have access to the same great resources and services and you can use your Library Membership Card at both services.
